Mack Edwin Waid

Mack Edwin Waid, 67, of Blountsville, Alabama went to his heavenly home on February 11, 2024 surrounded by love of his two daughters. Mack is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine (Kathy) Akins Waid, his mother and father, James Abram & Vera Odom Waid, as well as a brother, Bennie Waid, and two nephews, Donnie Waid and Jamie Henderson. He is survived by his daughters Kristie Miller (Dennis), April Chambers (Danny), and Jennifer Morgan, grandchildren, Jayden Brigman, Tori Miller, Anessa Miller, Harly McDonald (Preston), Dawson Chambers, Noah Chambers, Isaac Chambers, Emma Mathews, Millie Mathews, and one great grandchild, Weston Lee Rivenburg. Mack is survived by siblings, Glenn Waid of Bremen, Georgia. Valra Henderson (Jimmy), Jesse Waid, Lorene Hill (Eddy), Anita Woods (Dale), Ida Sue Moore (James), Allen Waid, Opal Owen (Greg) and Karyn Turner (Brad) all residing in Blount County Alabama, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Mack was a graduate of Locust Fork High School and later moved to Blountsville with his wife Kathy. Mack was no stranger to a hard day's work, having many jobs in the construction field from working independently for himself to supervising on larger commercial jobs. He enjoyed working with his hands and there are few things that he was not able to build. Mack loved the outdoors and would make any excuse to be outside. He took pride in maintaining his property and spent time with it daily. Mack always had a garden and keeping bees was his pride and joy. The only thing Mack took more joy in than the outdoors was his selflessness with the desires of his grandchildren. Sharing his love for the outdoors with them was likely his life's greatest work. Through adventures through the woods and to the creek, he taught them to love nature. He built bridges to take them across the creek, spent hours in the sun at the Blountsville City Pool and did whatever it took to make them happy. Funeral Service was Tuesday Feb. 13, 2024, at 6 PM at Blountsville Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Allred officiating. Visitation was from 4-6 PM at Blountsville Funeral Home. The family chose cremation following the service, Blountsville Funeral Home directing.
