John Richard Doyle

John Richard Doyle, of Blountsville passed away on October 17, 2023, at the age of 92. John and his wife, Dorothy have resided in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the past 3 years, to be closer to family. John was born July 24, 1931, in Decatur, Alabama to the late Clifton Adley Doyle and Sue Ella Lee Doyle. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Don Clifton Doyle, Wanda Doyle Handley, Betty Doyle Smith (Arnon), Bobby Joe Doyle (Charlotte) and brother-in-law: Alton Cheatwood. John married Dorothy Nell Pinyan Doyle in September 1954 and they recently celebrated 69 years of marriage. They started their lives together in Birmingham, AL in 1954, and in 1969, they returned to their hometown of Blountsville, AL, calling it home for 51 years. John served in the United States Air Force enlisting in 1951. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he soon joined American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) as a Machinist where he worked for 40 years and was admired for his hard work and dedication. He was an avid and skilled bowler with a mean hook shot and bowled in the ACIPCO bowling league for many years. As a young boy into adulthood, fishing was a second love. It would not be unusual to find him fishing at the Guntersville dam or on the bank at Guntersville Beech Creek. He loved traveling, camping, Nascar racing, golfing, and college football. He was an Auburn football fan through and through. John is survived by his wife, Dorothy and their (3) children, Don R. Doyle, Sr. (Joan), Catherine D. Fortner, Terry J. Doyle (Ellen); nine (9) grandchildren, Don R. Doyle, Jr. (Beverly), M. Beth Doyle, Courtney S. Westbrook (Steven), Gordon J. Dastmalchi (Jinhee), Eric A. Dastmalchi (Vanessa), John A.M. Doyle, Max J. U. Doyle, Finley K. L. Doyle, and Luke A. P. Doyle; twelve (12) great grandchildren Kylie D. Westbrook, Karlie S. Westbrook, Don R. Doyle, III (Trey), Camille B. Doyle, Harrison R. Doyle, Brandon C. Dastmalchi, Addison C. Dastmalchi, Lawrence M. Doyle (Wren), Easton G. Doyle, Brodie W. Dastmalchi, John David (JD) Doyle, and Enzo N. Dastmalchi; sister: Shirley Doyle Cheatwood. During his decline with Alzheimer’s, when asked by a nurse to write one sentence, he wrote ‘it’s a beautiful world’. Even in illness and confusion, these were his thoughts. His gentle nature, humbleness, love for his family, and joy for life will be terribly missed and treasured forever. Funeral Service was 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Blountsville Funeral Home with Brother Randall Edmondson officiating. The burial was in Blountsville Cemetery, Blountsville Funeral Home directing. Visitation was from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 12:00 p.m. Saturday. Pallbearers: Steven Westbrook, Don R.
